The Book as Business Card: How to write the book that will launch your consulting career

This presentation is for anyone interested in using a published book as a marketing tool to get speaking engagements and promote products or services. Participants will learn how to plan a book based on careful analysis of audience, purpose, focus, and style. Plus, you will learn--

  • The full value of the book as business card (and why the brochure is obsolete)

  • The first thing every business or professional book has to have—and the first thing most writers forget

  • How to incorporate your book into your business plan

  • How to start, jump-start, or complete your writing project

  • How to think like a publisher and recoup the investment you put into your book

  • How to work productively with editors, designers, and printers

  • Marketing tools every writer needs

About the Speaker

Joseph Moses, Ph.D. Moses has published widely on dozens of topics including product marketing, business and professional writing, PR, and sales. Moses was a semifinalist in the 2006 Minnesota Cup competition for the most innovative business ideas in the state. He is a lecturer in the University of Minnesota’s Writing Program and is vice president of the Beaver's Pond Press. He is former director of marketing communications at GE Security.

Write less, write faster, achieve more

Workplace writers write too much. They spend too much time writing, and most of what they write is wrong. In this presentation, participants will learn why facts are overrated and often useless, how to develop a writing style that will cut writing time and volume in half, and the single most important question that every workplace writer must ask--every word, every sentence and paragraph along the way. The goal of this workshop is to change the way you write at work and to make you glad you did.
