Anoka High School students
meet authors and publishing staff at Beaver's Pond
Anoka's second annual visit featured an introduction to
the publishing profession from acquisitions, editing, designing, printing,
and marketing. Authors who have published their own books talk their books,
and what made them want to become writers.

New-author orientation teaches
book marketing, design

Eight Beaver's Pond authors (and a prospective one) joined
our Friday session on marketing, design, and copywriting during our first
new-author orientation. Book publicist Linda Strommer led off with a
presentation on creating buzz; design coordinator Pam Schunemann delivered
invaluable tips on working with designers, and Joe Moses led the group in a
session on writing marketing copy for sell sheets and book covers. Look for
the next session date in forthcoming issues of "The Mentor" newsletter.
